Campus Planning
As the University of Chicago plans improvements to the campus, we invite feedback from the community to make sure surrounding areas also benefit from University development.
- The South Campus Plan encompasses a new student residence hall and additional parking and office space, as well as a beautifully landscaped gateway to campus along 61st Street, to be developed over 15 years.
- Midway Plaisance Development, in partnership with the Chicago Park District, contributes to improvements along the Midway Plaisance, including a skating rink, an urban horticultural center, a children's play garden, and other new garden areas.
- North of the Midway, we've invested more than $600 million in new campus facilities in just five years. Through the University's business diversity initiative, more than $114 million of that total was committed to work by minority- and women-owned firms.
- Campus Retail Development offers opportunities for private retail businesses within campus facilities, such as the Seven Ten Lanes restaurant and bowling alley in the Ellis Avenue Parking Structure.
