College Readiness-and Beyond

The University runs several programs that help Chicago public school students prepare for college and to succeed once they're enrolled. For example:

  • The Collegiate Scholars Program is a three-year program for high-achieving Chicago public high school students that features tuition-free college-level classes, enrichment seminars, and close interaction with University faculty.
  • The Office of Special Programs/College Prep provides educational enrichment and college-prep classes for South Side students in grades 6 through 12.
  • The Chicago Public Schools College Bridge Program in partnership with the University provides for-credit courses to high-achieving Chicago public school junior and seniors at no cost.
  • Chicago Public Schools Scholarships offers five full-tuition scholarships each year to outstanding Chicago public school graduates who are admitted to the University.
  • Kenwood Academy students benefit from several University programs, including accelerated academic opportunities and technology assistance.
  • Police & Fire Scholarships provide full-tuition scholarships each year for qualified children of Chicago police officers and firefighters who are admitted to the University.

College Readiness Programs
