Transportation
It's easier to get around Hyde Park/Kenwood and also to get downtown and to the North Side thanks to the enhanced bus service the University of Chicago has arranged with the CTA. The University subsidizes three daytime CTA bus routes that operate within the neighborhood and one that runs north to Belmont Avenue in the evening. Route 174 makes stops at the Garfield Red and Green line stations, and Route 192 takes riders to downtown train stations.
All four CTA services are open to the entire community. Students may use all services — except the 173 Lakeview — at no charge by displaying their University ID cards.
