Sports & Parks
Although the University of Chicago is best known for its emphasis on brain power, we also put a high priority on physical fitness and recreation. Our NCAA Division III athletic teams are a strong source of pride, and many of their competitions are open to the public at no charge. Come cheer on the Maroons!
Of course, we also have options for those who would rather participate than watch. For example, we offer summer memberships to our athletics facilities and a swim school for community children.
As for recreation, the University is partnering with the Chicago Park District in revitalizing the Midway Plaisance for community enjoyment. In addition to the year-round skating rink, warming house, and improved playing fields, we are looking forward to an innovative children's play garden, an urban horticultural center, and even more beautiful landscaping.
