Architecture

The campus of the University of Chicago is an architectural jewel — and it's open to all visitors. Wander around on your own (gargoyle-spotting is a favorite local pastime), or join a tour:

  • Campus Tours. Informative student-led campus tours will orient you to the University's plan and let you in on fascinating campus lore.
  • Robie House Tours. Built in 1909, Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House is an icon of modern architecture. The Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust offers daily tours of the house as well as walking tours of the campus and Hyde Park. Call (773) 834-1361 for tour schedule.
  • Architectural Campus Guide. Learn about the campus in detail in The University of Chicago: The Campus Guide (Princeton Architectural Press), available in bookstores.
