Community Life
Each year, the University sponsors hundreds of arts and cultural events that are open to the public. At venues such as the Court Theatre, the Oriental Institute, and the Smart Museum, local residents and schools can participate in special cultural programs for no charge. Additionally, the University's retail development initiatives help ensure the community's ongoing vitality and economic health.
The University also offers critical support and resources to area arts organizations. The innovative Enhancing Assets program, for instance, helps small-scale arts and cultural institutions on the South Side make connections and share resources.
We invite you to visit campus. Attend a concert, tour a museum, take a swim class, see a film — at the University of Chicago, you're always welcome.
