About Us
Every day, the University of Chicago strives to improve the quality of life in the mid–South Side of Chicago. Through a variety of initiatives and community and government partnerships, we work to educate area children, bring medical resources to those who need them, and enhance housing, retail, and public amenities. Over the past five years, we have invested more than $70 million in the community. Our guiding principles for community engagement were articulated in a document created as part of the work of the Provost's Initiative on Minority Issues (PIMI), a campus-wide initiative that seeks to advance progress on diversity-related issues at the University of Chicago.
